Ivanović: Russian investors are not dominant ( 2008-09-30)
| PODGORICA – Russians are not dominant investors in Montenegro, said Predrag Ivanović, Director of the Montenegrin Investment Promotion Agency. Most investors in Montenegro come from Norway, Great Britain, Russia, Hungary,Germany and Austria, but neither of them are dominant on Montenegrin market’, said Ivanović. He said investments differ from the purchase of real estate that are mostly purchased the Russians indeed. ‘When calculating direct foreign investments, the Montenegrin Investment Promotion Agency focuses only on what is core business’, explained Ivanović. At the presentation of Montenegrin economic potential to Macedonian entrepreneurs he said Montenegro has the lowest unemployment rate in the region, highest investments per capita in Europe, the most dynamic capital market, highest degree of economic freedoms, level of privatization and budget surplus. ‘Direct foreign investments were highest in finance industry and tourism’, said Ivanović. In 2008, investments in construction and services rose. The aim of Montenegro is to become the center of education and business center of the region, provide quality financial services. The Montenegrin Investment Promotion Agency expects EUR 5bn of investments by 2011 and another EUR 30bn by 2030. The head of Entrepreneurship Development in Podgorica Zvonko Savić said Podgorica and Skoplje should exchange their experiences in helping small and medium enterprises and investments in agriculture, tourism and transport. Jovan Anastasov, head of marketing in Betonsko, Macedonian construction company which has been operating in Montenegro for a year said there are no barriers for foreign companies and business climate is positive.
