Eco tax remedy for polluted environment ( 2008-06-23)
| Money generated through an eco tax, i.e. EUR 20 million annually, will be used to protect the physical and social environment, because the 2007 Report on the Quality of the Physical and Social Environment in Montenegro shows that the situation is worse than last year, said the Ministry of Tourism and Environmental Protection. Deputy Tourism Minister Sinisa Stankovic said that the government would most probably discuss the report during its next session. “The ministry will suggest the government a program of measures to improve the quality of the physical and social environment and the project will be financed by charging taxes”, said Stankovic. The report points out that the situation has gotten worse in Pljevlje, Podgorica, Niksic, but also on Montenegro’s coast. (Republika) |
