Montenegro and Albania have highest economic growth potential ( 2008-08-14)

TIRANA – Montenegro and Albania should register the highest economic growth in 2008 in the Balkans, says IMF.

At the time when gross domestic product in Western Europe has been declining, IMF is positive about Montenegrin and Albanian economies, wrote Gazeta Shqiptare, Albanian daily.

According to IMF evaluation, Montenegro should register 7.2% GDP growth, while Albanian economy should rise 6%.

IMF said Bulgaria and Bosnia and Herzegovina are to have 5.5% economic growth by the end-year, Romanian economy is expected to grow 5.4%, Macedonian 5%, Croatian 4.2%. Serbian economy, on the other hand, is expected to grow at the rate of 4%.

Economic growth of the region is expected to be higher than last year and accession to the EU and the opening of the Balkan countries will increase competition and enable further development of the Balkan economies.
