Luckily, investment banking is not developed ( 2008-10-23)

Director of the office of SMECA, fund for insurance and financing of foreign trade activities Bratislav Pejakovic said that the global financial crisis could have directly affected the Montenegrin banks if they had dealt with investment banking and placed funds in foreign countries or if they had deposits in banks affected by this crisis.

However, cross-border investment banking is not developed in Montenegro, and deposits in foreign countries are held in A category banks, which are of special importance for national economies. Pejakovic claims that Montenegrin banks base their operations on their own capital, deposits of local economy and population and credit lines.
