Investors blamed for lack of hotels, not red tape ( 2008-06-28)

Kotor welcomes this tourist season, just like all the previous ones, without big hotels which were supposed to be built at several attractive locations in the town.

Mayor Marija Catovic has confirmed that Kotor needs to get new hotels as soon as possible, but also that each new hotel complex has to fit into the framework of an Unesco town with design and surrounding scenery. "With no intention of defending the municipal administration, I think the problem is not slow red tape or inconsistency of documents.

One of the main culprits for the lack of big hotel capacities in the tourist offer this season is the investor – the Irish company which has bought the Fjord hotel, URC and the building of Jugooceanija, which has not started with the work yet", Catovic said.
